Youth Services Librarian

The Gibson Memorial Library is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic full-time Youth Services Librarian. The ideal candidate is excited about providing outstanding service to youth and their caregivers. This position is responsible for planning and administering programs and promoting literacy to the community in a variety of ways including outreach.

Summary of position:

·      Empower and motivate young people;

·      Promote and nurture the habit of reading;

·      Introduce patrons to the latest electronic resources;

·      Collaborate with educators;

·      Build programs to link the library to community groups and educational institutions;

·      Choose resources to enhance the library collection

·      Provide parenting education and family literacy programs;

·      Design and provide engaging activities that help young people develop their creativity, interests and talents

Under the direction of the Library Director, the Youth Services Librarian performs professional librarian tasks for the youth services department.

The ideal candidate will plan, organize and maintain the youth library collection, analyzing the collection for development needs. The candidate will also plan, organize, and publicize youth programs, including, but not limited to story time, special events, reading clubs, summer reading program and community outreach.

The candidate should be a self-starter, who is able to work independently and with a team, providing excellent customer service and be able to start and finish projects in a timely manner with minimal supervision. Nights and Saturday availability required.

This position requires experience working with youth, library operations, policies and may be required to perform off-site programming and outreach. The candidate will be required to know library assistant tasks and services.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $11-$13 per hour dependent on education and experience.

Part-Time Dispatcher

The City of Creston is seeking to hire a Part-Time 911 Dispatcher.  Work hours vary but will be mostly nights and weekends. Starting wage will be $16.48/hour with a sign-on bonus for ILEA certification.
